MEET THE TEAM

Vanessa Bernardi

Vanessa Bernardi is the owner and primary instructor of Pilates on the Coast. She started her career as a personal trainer and fitness instructor in Brazil after graduating with a Bachelor degree in Health and Physical Education, and Sports Science. She also graduated with a degree in Business and has completed numerous courses including:

  • Human Anatomy: Musculoskeletal Cases (Harvard University)
  • Cognitive Fitness (Harvard University)
  • Postural Analysis (BR)
  • Advanced Matwork (BR)
  • Advanced Reformer (BR)
  • Advanced Cadillac (BR)
  • Advanced Wunda Chair (BR)

Suffering from a lower back injury for years, she was introduced by her former boss to Pilates. After experiencing the results on her own body she was in awe of the method.  She completed an extensive Pilates Course (Matwork and Equipment) in 2007 and has been exclusively teaching Pilates ever since. After accumulating 10 years of experience and opening her own Pilates studio in Brazil, Vanessa decided to move to Australia four years ago. During this period she worked in a few of the most prestigious Pilates studios in Sydney and was mentored by Brad Leeon (Leeon Pilates Studio).

Vanessa is incredibly passionate about her job and a strong believer in mindfulness and the idea of using controlled and precise movements to achieve a better lifestyle.

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a mind-body movement practice that focus on strengthening your core – abdominals, back extensors, and other trunk muscles. It is a low impact and progressive exercise that involves precise movements and specific breathing techniques.
